Fundraising
Fundraising helps the club to meet its financial commitments while trying to keep fees at a reasonable rate. With high pool costs and full time coaches salaries, swimming is an expensive sport. The fundraising component of the overall program helps to augment the swim fee commitment.
With the exception of Swim-a-thon, your fundraising activities are optional and will be tracked through the year. Any fundraising activities conducted throughout the year (dollar amount per activity varies and is dependent on the activity and some activities are group activities, like the bottle drive, which don't apply to individuals for discounts) will be applied as a credit towards the family's swim fees account up to a maximum of 100% of the training fees only (this deduction does not apply to the meet fee account). The fundraising balance only applies to the current year and nothing may be carried forward to next swim season.
A few of the current fundraising opportunities are:
- Bingo (Bingo service raises money for the club and applies a monetary credit to the swim acount of the volunteer who works the shift, but it does not qualify for volunteer hours as well)
- Corporate Sponsorship
- Other Opportunities to come throughout the swim year
All fundraising activities (with the exception of Swim-a-thon) are optional!
Earning Opportunities
| Fundraising Opportunity | Credit Earned |
|---|---|
| Bingo | $100/session worked |
| Corporate Sponsorship | 30% of sponsorship dollars |
Bingo Support
Bingo is one of our club's primary fundraising activities. It makes up an enormous part of our operating budget. Its success is crucial to maintaining our fiscal fitness.
Volunteers will be required to assist in the front Taptix area, welcoming patrons to the centre and assisting gaming center staff at the door as needed. They are also responsible for helping to clean up the used bingo sheets, deliver food, and general tidiness.
Each two hour assignment requires one bona fide volunteer. Each successful session earns the club one share.
- Peterborough Swim Club receives assigned dates and times from Delta Bingo and Gaming Centre (Delta) monthly. Delta is located at 1019 Clonsilla Ave Peterborough.
- All volunteers must have completed the required training and shadowing session. Volunteers must be over 19 years of age.
- Volunteers need to comply with the revised April 2018 "Dress Code Policy".
- Volunteers also need to comply with the revised April 2018 "Responsibilities of Bona Fide Volunteers".
- Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for all dates they would be available.
- As per the terms of our charity gaming permit, the club must submit a bona fide volunteer list with a maximum of 20 names.
- Due to the maximum number of bona fide volunteers allowed, only one bona fide volunteer per swim family will be permitted.
- Your swimmer account will get credited $100.00 for every successful session completed. Sessions in July and August will count towards the swim year beginning in September.
- Trading of bingo dates is permissible within the bona fide list. Individuals are responsible for finding their replacement and informing the bingo coordinator of any changes. If the bingo date is missed, the penalty will be against the family assigned to work that date.
- You must inform your bingo coordinator prior to 7 p.m. the day before your assignment if you are unable to attend. Failure to do so will result in a penalty applied to your account.
- Delta has a three strike rule and applies penalties for noncompliance. Financial penalties that occur will reduce the amount credited to the swimmer account by the volunteer who incurred them. Volunteers acquiring penalties resulting in ½ share loss will also be suspended from participating in bingo for a permit period. For example, a dress code violation is a ¼ share or approximately $125 loss and failure to perform duties is a ½ share or approximately a $250 loss.
